Saw another sad story today....
I stopped in at an independent repair shop today and noticed a 225 Quattro Coupe that was there with its hood ajar waiting for parts to complete a repair. I asked the shop owner, "that TT in here for a timing belt failure?" to which he replied, yes and he needs a whole new engine....about seven thousand in costs. He said that the belt failed about 40,000 miles before Audi called for changing it. The hapless owner is stuck (no warranty). Everytime I see this kind of thing I am reminded of the extreme damage to Audi's reputation (and continued deterioration of resale of our TT's) and I wonder when Audi will step up to the plate and address this problem straight up with some action - warranty extension, recall, owner notices....SOMETHING!!! My question: as a body of owner/enthusiasts should we be doing more to get Audi to move on this?
