Default HOLY CRAP! Radio finally out!

First of all, the removal tools from 42nd draft don't fit exactly. Granted they aren't claiming they work for our cars, so no harm done. They are the right design but they need about another 2-3mm of space between the tip and the notch. You can move the notch and they will work fine.

On another note, if you have nothing to grip (those with no tape player) you can use a paint can opener (metal tool with a tiny lip on the end to pry open paint cans) to gently insert into the cd player slot on either end and use it to pull the radio slightly. Easy pressure will give you something to pull on and move the radio enough.

Even if you don't move the tabs the keys still work you just can't use them to pull with, hence the paint can opener.

Well finally making some progress here!

Default Well here is the problem with that..

I'd have to visit a dealer!

None of them particularly like me, nor do I like them The whole lemon thing and whatnot

Plus I want to learn to do this crap myself.. frustrating, even with the "right" tools, but good lessons and as others have mentioned this is many cars who use this system so good knowledge to have.

Default I agree. I've had aa CEL for thousands of miles ... I know it's the MAF, but

I don't want to leave the car at the dealer so they can damage it. That's happened too many times in the past.

Default Get your own MAF (VW dealer or ECS) and change it yourself..

I have a VAG if you need it.

Default Yeah, but I'm conflicted because I know it's covered for 7 years/70K and I

also hate paying for something that could be free about as much as I hate the dealer. I guess that puts me into self-imposed inaction hell.

Default Yup, double edged sword.

I didn't even bother, not only because of my above statements but also the hassle and mods. Easier to pay $80 and do it myself ($80 cause it was local VW, even cheaper with ECS).
