Default Lowering and performance

I have reached the point that I am ready to get new shocks..... about 20K miles ago. I am looking to get bilstein sports, but does lowering the car with springs actually help performance or is it mainly for looks? Thanks all.

improves handling. However, you will need at least a 1/2 K-mac or adjustable arms to get the rear alignment back.

3/4 inch is fine as Audi's S-Line suspension lowers about the same.

Some have just replaced the shocks and kept the stock springs. But since you will have the front strut out for replacement it's easier to replace the springs too.

yeah. I feel I can justify shocks to my wife easier than springs although it is a small incremental cost. Thanks for your posts.

Default Its a good link but... the TT and the MK4 VW suspension geometry is not the same

they even discuss this in the link.... the TT has different spindles etc.

Default No problem. I've had the Eibach/bilstiens for over 3 years and no problems...>>

I had to use a full K-mac on the rear to fix the toe-in problem.

The last alignment that was done (before TTW), the rear had not moved from the time we installed the K-macs and aligned the car. My tech said it was the only TT he has aligned that was this good.
