i am in NYC right now. with nowt to do!
interviewed for a job yesterday in long island. now i'm sitting in Queens while my fiancee is at work. anyone free for lunch or a drink or a coffee or whateva? i got some paperwork to do in the morning...but then i'm free after 11 or 12.
i don't see many TTs in NYC at all. i've been here so many times in the last 6 months and i've only seen 1 TT!

yeah
isn't long island city on the way to manhattan from here? i took the bus once (took me sooooo long) and it went through LIC....sort of industrial looking right? with new modern buildings being made? it's interesting, that part of town.

Yup, that's it. More lux buildings replacing the old industrial neighborhood every day now...
But it's a 12 min door to door commute to my office in midtown, so it couldn't be mroe convenient. In fact, if I lived in Manahttan, I'd be further away...

Technically, you're right... I was always in the Bronx (not "NYC").
No one ever goes out to Staten Island or the Bronx and considers it "The City," but your point is well taken. I guess it's an outsider's view of "The City." When I lived in the Bronx, I just stopped telling people I was from NYC altogether. We would say that we were part of "the City of New York," but not in "New York City."
Now that I am in NJ, NYC to everyone means Manhattan... If someone is going to Brooklyn, Staten Island or the Bronx, they say just that. When we head off to Queens, we usually call it by its neighborhood.
It's all good.
