Default First Problem since having bought my TT...

The wheels. I've finished installing the ModShack Stage 3 (minus intake) and have set the minimum suggested boost settings. While out for an initial test, I was turning around in the street when a mustang blew over the side of the hill. To avoid being rammed to peices, I dropped the clutch and spun the tires for a solid 1/2 a second to a second. WOW! Amazing upgrade! I can't wait for that (backordered ) turbo gauge to come in so I can run the machine to it's full capacity. Other pottential prob- Engine was significantly hotter after about 5 mins of driving... Anyone else have a problem/ solution?

Do not understand connection between problem wheels and engine being hotter.

I was being facetious about the wheel problem... More or less was bragging about being able to do a burn out now *blush*

The engine heat was a serious concern however.

Default OK. Ask Schwing about heat.>>>

The only time I have ever seen the heat guage in a TT go over the 1/2 way mark was when I drove my TT over to Hwy 1 via Hwy 17 from San Jose to Santa Cruz. I had the A/C on because it was hot in July. Near the top of the climb the guage needle went up due to extra load, so I turned the A/C off. The guage went back to normal. Once back closer to sea level I was able to turn the A/C back on and the guage stayed in the middle.

Perhaps you have your boost set too high with the new boost enhancer and your car is running hotter due to that.

In any event, Mr. Schwing will probably have an answer for you.

Naturally... but my question was- is this going to be an increased problem if I drive my car for over 5 minutes at a time? Should I take the time NOW to invest in a turbo timer, bigger radiator- etc?

Also- what's the difference (if any) between a diverter valve and a turbo blow off valve? Which would you recomend, and would that help with cooling issues?

I gave the boost gauge the recomended 3 full turns (minimum setting.) The drive was for about 5 minutes total.

Default Ummm...well..>

I've been running a Boost machine for 4.5 years now. there are several hundred in operation around the globe. If you are seriuous about performance you'll take measures to deal with the heat issue, ie: FMIC, manifold insulators, Samco hoses, intake system etc. Bottom line is, there is no free lunch. More power makes more heat, but it doesn't necessarily mean you are putting your car at risk...

I'm not worried too much about having to buy new upgrades- it's going to happen inevitably durring this summer (settlement check came in Wed. ) I was just interested in the most efficient way to go about it. What works best!
