Default Congrats! Hope it works out well for you.

Where are you located now? Not sure if I ever knew.

And this means that you can attend tri-state (CT/NY/NJ) area get togethers!

Default welcome to NY

as you obviously know it is not cost effective to live in NY - however if you do your commute will be against traffic so it shouldnt be bad. good luck on the new job and welcome to the area

Default You might want to consider looking in LIC...

there are plenty of housing options for a range of $$, and it's still a little cheaper than Manhattan. When you try to get to anywhere in Manhattan from here, you'll find your probably closer to it than most parts of Manhattan you might live in, if you know what I mean. In terms of convenience, it's basically as if you were living on E. 42nd St. Unless you want to be out where it's a (little) greener, it beats the Nassau County option, except for the commute.

But it will help with your commute too, compared to Manhattan since you won't have to work your way through town to get across the midtown tunnel, or triboro bridge, etc. In LIC, you are right on the Long Island Expressway, which is one of the two ways you'd really have to get out to NHP.

Default don't bother living in manhattan if you want to commute. sure, its a reverse commute...

but it'll kill you to do it everyday. the trains are great in NY and much more efficient. besides, your clutch foot will get a workout on the LIE (Long Island Expressway) or LIE parking lot as it is known to be (and at just about all hours).

areas are all dependent upon how much you want to spend for an apartment or house. as some of the LI folks here.
