Considering drilling holes in the stock airbox...anyone wanna talk me out of it?
I'll be getting a TTDA in a few months, so I'll have no use for the stock airbox afterwards, and after hearing a greddy type S BOV on an SRT-4 the other day, I really want to hear some type of sound when I let off the throttle, so hopefully I can hear something this way for the time being.
PS...not expecting any gains...just an interesting change in sound.

What's the other advantage to the modified airbox to get the best of "both worlds"
In one case you spend $20 on a cone filter but save your air box. In the other you save $20 but ruin your stock box. Both do essentially the same thing and even Wak noted this about his airbox mod....

So if a person was inclined to go this route why not go with the cone filter?

Removing the rubber gasket in the back of the engine compartment will give you some more sound...
if that's what your after.It just presses off & on.As others have said keep the stock box. You may want it some day IMO.

Not really, that is a couple dollars he does not need to spend
There is no real benefit beyond maybe some sound by drilling, and he will get performance and sound with a VTDA or TTDA. He is going that route any ways! Stick stock until the funds are avail.
