Default How crazy is this? The Audi OEM V60i cell phone...

Which I have BTW, is going for $660 (for Verizon). I have the OEM hands free setup and it integrates well, except for the fact that the microphone picks up a ton of road noise.

Obviously, the phone is somewhat outdated. Too bad Audi won't design their hands-free interface with non-Audi phones. I can't imagine that they sell many of these things.

Motorola V.60 Phone
US $639.37 - $660.05

This Motorola Cell Phone which is activated and ready to use, has the following features:
- External Caller ID Display
- Displays time, date and more
- Voice recognition
- New User Interface
- Personal Information Management
- iTAP,TM Software
- USB port compatible
- Display zoom setting increases size of the font
- Voice Notes, voice annotation
- 32 standard/32 customizable ringer tones

Overpriced phone

I think the v60 is going down in history much the way the TT is. As a design icon...

Default It's also the oem for '02 MBz CLK

I found one on eBay and took it to Cingular to have it activated for my wifes car and cell phone #. They said it was useless because it doesn't connect to today's networks. Fortunately the guy's number was still in the phone and I called him from Cingular's store (not with that phone though) and arranged a return

Default what is so special about this phone to justify the cost of $600??? Looks like any other the many

flip phones I have seen on the market.
I think Motorola has a great line-up of phones but for that price it better do something special like adjust boost on the TT or something of that nature.

Default Seriously? I figured it would just be another outdated phone that no one cares about...

Although it works just fine and the battery life is very good.

Default When I turn my phone on, the display shows the Audi logo. That's because...

It has OEM software flashed into the phone that allows it to work with the OEM hands-free kit. If you put a regular V60i in there, it wouldn't work.

What the OEM Audi hands free kit does is to pause your CD player/changer when you make or receive a call. If the radio is on, it mutes it and you hear the call through your stereo. Plus, it uses the hands-free microphone that is in all of these calls. The dash and CD player read "phone" for whatever that's worth.

The hands-free setup works well but there's a lot of echo for the person on the other end of the conversation and people often have difficulty hearing me. If the aircon is on, it make it very hard for the other person to hear me.

Default which is CDMA. the Cingular salesman's attitude to cedricl is hilarious, because>>

most industry experts acknowledge CDMA as a superior technology in most respects (including security-- it was developed by & for the US gov't originally), however, since GSM is widely used in Europe, many are stuck using it if they plan to travel abroad-- especially enterprise customers, of course.
