When you turn on the air you lose power? I sure don't notice it if that's true. It's still a freakin rocket. My other cars in the past lost noticeable power when the air was turned on.

Don't think so - in fact some will say the opposite with the TT

I don't see how it could be the opposite.

Default Mine feels pretty good with the air on. However . . .

I do notice a slight loss of power below 2500rpm. I wonder if the computer is programmed to run a different set of maps when the air is on?

The nature of turning on your air conditioning is going to mean you're losing power. When using AC on any car, you take away from the main motor. As far as I know, all AC units share a belt that goes over your crank pulley. Remove the belt/AC and you gain 10-15 HP, because you're reducing the friction and giving the rest of the motor more power.

-my two cents.

Default It's been said, in the TT the a/c compressor turns off under heavy acceleration...

...could be true, I don't know....to me it seems slower with it on, so I just turn on ECON, (and turn-off ESP) if I want maximum acceleration. It seems to rev quicker and smoother with a/c off.

The drag from A/C is much less noticable in the TT than other cars I've had though.

Default Turning the A/C on does cause a little extra drag on the motor, but most of the time....

rolling down the windows would would cause more.

Default You ask some of the most unusual questions. A/C takes about 8 HP to run. TP compensates..

Thus you don't feel it. Watch teh Tach when you turn the AC on and off.
