Default What would YOU do? (Long) -->

I just pruchased my second (direct replacement) Audi TT last Friday. (For the record, I sold my 04 3.2 Silver Coupe the day before and I was set to get an 06 3.2 Dolomite Coupe) It was delivered in an enclosed trailer, cost: $300. Everything looked fine and dandy considering it was an over cast day. I left it there over the weekend although I wanted to go out and drive it already. Well come Monday, I drove 6 (adding a total of 36 miles) whole miles to the place where I was going to have the clear bra installed. After pointing out areas I wanted covered, the installer/owner of the shop noticed what looked like excess wax residue (to me, it looked like a bad clay bar job). He tried cleaning it off with some application he had and it didn't go away. Tried wiping it with his fingers but that obviously didn't work either. He got his orbital buffer our and it didn't do a thing. Looked around the car and it was every where else too. I called the Audi dealership manager that I purchased it from and told them my story. They almost tried blaming it on me (almost, but with 6 extra miles on the odometer that I took a picture with my cell and sent it to them, they very quickly dropped the blame game) but that didn't go far. Well today, I got an authorized Audi repair/paint shop (appointed by the Audi rep.) to look at it and they said it was from the straps they used from transporting it. He said that 2 out of 10 cars this happens to and that he had an A8L in his shop that had the same thing if I wanted to see it. I asked him how it will be repaired/fixed and he said that they do this and that (deals with sanding & buffing). So I asked how much of the clear coat will be coming off and he said about 2 mil. I asked how much is on there and he said about 4 mil. He also said that some spots look deeper than just the clear coat and keep in mind it's scattered throughout the entire car. Never mind the fact that I am pissed off that this dealership gave me a car that was obviously flawed it's the fact that I will have less clear coat to work with if any damage occurs down the line. I called the Audi Manager back and the dealership instead of waiting and I told her I didn't want it any more. They are looking into another one right now if there are any left. But do you think that is **** retentive? What would you do folks?

If I was in your shoes I'd complain as well - It should be a brand new flaw-free car

Default L! The manager actually asked "Don't you think that's a little **** retentive?"

when I mentioned the left over clear coat after it's sanded and buffed and I replied "You should be used to it since you deal with BMW, Porsche & Audi customers." and that shut em up.

Default Same damn thing... That is aweful

They should have immediately taken it back... this wasn't your fault. You paid for a new car, not this. If you can't get another one, then get some big bucks refunded. Check out autotrade for new ones around the country and tell them to pay shipping to get it here. Or get a refund and get it yourself from the dealer wherever they are. I know a great transporter that I used... flawless delivery. Good luck!

Default That's what I said!

I want to "be-made-new" again by getting another one. I just hope there are 06 Light Silver or Dolomite Gray 3.2 Coupes out there with all the options (besides navigation) that have Ebony or Red Leather. (Fat change on the red leather though)

Default That's pretty insulting...

I don't think it's unreasonable to want a new car in pristine condition.

I'm a little **** myself but depending on the damage, I'd probably be able to move on and deal with it for a $2k discount.
