Default So I got my car...

OK, I still need to take the pics...But anyway, I'm a pretty joyous TT owner at the moment! Everything went smoothly, my '01 TT 225hp arrived safe and sound in the West Coast yesterday...I did a quick/stupid inspection before signing the release form for the truck driver.....Later on my friend noticed that the TOP of the back spoiler has DROPLETS of SOMETHING that had been painted over or inflated as a result of improper drying? (some of the DRIED droplets look like they had been running). SO I FREAKED OUT!

Started looking at the insides of the door edges and trunk edges, nothing...Looked some more...Nothing...It's JUST the back spoiler that looks painted over, and painted over perfectly in terms of color match...albeit, you can SEE droplets of running paint texture or something underneath the spoiler's paint...and I mean I looked at the edges of the spoiler very carefully, and the issue does NOT extend beyond the back spoiler-I HOPE...But it still has me concerned...

I know some earlier TT's didn't come equipped with spoilers, so I don't know if this one was added later.

...The dealer said I could get the spoiler alone painted for like $100. Is that BS? I'm going to re-inspect every inch of the car today when the sun comes out, but so far, thank GOD, the rest of the body (inside edges and all) seems perfect.

I just think it doesn't makes sense for the spoiler paint to indicate anything *bad* for the rest of the car, because the droplets that were painted over are so BLATANTLY OBVIOUS that I don't think the rest of the car would have been painted over so CAREFULLY HAD there been an issue.
EDIT: I also noticed some white SCUFF marks UNDERNEATH the back spoiler...So I'm thinking something's up with this spoiler...

Default 2001 TT had factory installed spoilers. So it is not likely it was added later.

Any pre-owned car is probably not going to be perfect, even a CPO one from Audi. Blemishes on the car can be a normal part of ownership. If you want to have the spoiler repainted, $100 is probably low for a quality job. I had a front license panel painted for $100 with clear coat about 3-1/2 years ago and that cost $100. So, to paint a spoiler at today's prices would probably be more than $100 at a quality California shop that knew its butt from a hot rock...

Instead of repaintin the spoiler consider having it removed and have the trunk lid repainted instead

Default Excuse me, but isn't this a 5 year old car?

Maybe it's got an aftermarket or 3.2 spoiler on it? Take a picture and we can tell you. Personally i think you're making way too big a thing over this considering you bought it sight unseen...

yea, i know...........it's a combination of anality and "newbie-ness"...I grew up around cars, having both my father and uncle as car dealers, but when you're on the buying end for the first time, it's different! i PERSONALLY could care less if the spoiler has been painted over of whatever, I just had an attack of paranoia toward the larger picture (being the WHOLE car)...And reselling it..I don't want people to think it had an accident...I'm so California! It's bad! I know... Plus it's my FIRST car-- that wasn't a hand-me-down...
