Default Those with Mintex brake pad failures..

I have been emailing with Gary from TMD Friction, the company that makes Mintex pads. He is giving the impression they really don't know about the problem with the TT pads and has asked that any pads be sent in. He said they would replace pads BEFORE installation if you want to send them in, but they really want to see pads that have been installed and had problems. They can't fix anything if no one tells them or sends in bad pads.

You can email him at ghartridge@tmdfriction.co.uk

I am contemplating my sitaution right now as to if I will send in my unused pads for replacement.

Default I had the problem...

but I threw those things away faster than a stinky diaper. ECS sent me my free pair and asked that any bad pads be sent to them... not sure if that changed then.

The problem with mine, was that the pads wore down to absolutely nothing - ~5% left after about 100 miles. The wheels weren't pouring out heat or leaving excess dust as you would expect from brake pads failing like that, but the dealership was absolutely shocked.

Default I've used Mintex Reds for >2y w/o problems.

Includes all the abuse TT-E and ACNA G@G can muster, including several (LOTS) of time on the Dragon.

I've heard of some problems w/ an early mold/material/substrate they used. I've had no similar difficulties. Odd.

I sent my pads back to World Impex a year ago, I guess they didn't pass that along.

Default My 855 Turbo has EBC Green: not a good fit w/ x-drilled, but just fine w/ PowerSlots.

I'm using Red Box on my 2000 TTQC, stock rotors. Alles klar!

Default Haven't tried their Y or R compounds. Since I don't track (yet), Yatahey.....

The 855, a rather brutish mass, seems OK on the Greens w/ the rotors. I did take the F Zimmerman x-drilled pair off, and replaced w/ PowerSlots. All is well so far: 2k+ miles and carpool four adult middle-aged males once/twice per week.
