Default Little off the car topic but I'm going to Vegas...need some input

Who has gone and where to stay? I'm young so going to see tiger's doesn't really interest me, and I want to avoid staying at family resorts. I know there are older guys here who have probably been there a dozen or so times. Considering staying at the Luxor, Bellagio...how does staying from thursday to sunday sound? It will be a total of 4 guys going.

thanks

J

Default Well ... unless you plan on spending a lot of time in your room...

I recommend staying @ one of the cheaper casinos. I've stayed in Circus Circus & Excalibur & both are pretty decent. They are part of the same chain as Luxor & a bunch of others. Circus Circus is about $10 less that Excalibur, but is on the older end of the strip so it's further from the nicer Casinos. Going to Excalibur's website I've gotten rooms as low as about $40/night.

Have fun & take comfortable shoes!

Default The buffet at the Bellagio is the best.. great seafood and tons of crab.

Make sure you go to the Fremont Street Experience, the older casinos are nice and the laser show on the roof is something to see.

Also, go catch Penn and Teller's show at the Rio. It's great entertainment for a decent price.

Watch your wallet.

And there is no sex in the champange room.

Default Venetian is very nice and has shops and the canal connected. Aladin is nice too.....

and also has alot of shops connected to it. Nice if you have someone with you that likes to shop.

Freemont street is over rated. Don't go there.

Rio has great looking women working the bars.

Default First time?

I've been 3 times - stayed at Aladdin, Mirage and Luxor. Aladdin was the best out of the three. Luxor was kewl too and the room at the Mirage was too small. But you won't be in your hotel room all that much anyway.

Check out the Bellagio fountains...

There's nothing like seeing it in person...

The "champagne brunch" at Aladdin on Sundays is awesome if you get the chance. It's a buffet that was $21 last time I was there...but worth it. There are TONS of great places to eat. If you like fish, go to Emeril's at MGM - pricey, but really good!

Be prepared to do a LOT of walking. Bring comfy shoes and allow for a lot of time to get from place to place - in some cases that just means crossing the street.

Check out the newish monorail they have. It can get you around town for a pretty good price.

Booking shows in advance can get you great seats. I was literally front and center for Penn & Teller. Had great seats for "O" and Mystere - both Circue du Soleil shows. And I saw Lance Burton...good seats, okay show. Kinda cheesy. But still pretty impressive.

And of course, limit yourself on gambling. The casinos are in business to take your money. And then you won't have as much mod money! Good luck! And have fun!

And check out this site too! It can be helpful

Default Both are nice

Bellagio is much nicer and much more expensive. Summer is the least expensive time to visit because the daytime temps are 100+. Weekend prices are about 50% higher than midweek irrespective of where you stay. If you are driving from SoCal you want to avoid arriving on Friday or leaving on Sunday because I-15 is a parking lot on those days.
