Default Last shot not going to work on manifold-bolt outs the wrong size?

I was sold on the idea of giving the bolt outs from Sears a try. Printed the page from the website out and was literally on the way to get them when I noticed that the smallest bolt out socket in the kit was for an 8mm stud. It appears that the stud is 5mm like the other bolts for the manifold. So, is this the end of the road for ideas for getting the stud out? If so, I'll probably start looking into professional help tomorrow.

PS: thanks to you all for all of the great feedback up to this point. Sorry I keep beating a dead horse with this one-just ready to get the car back in one piece again as you can probably imagine.

Default Go to sears.com, and search for "power bolt out"... What you need is $9.99 for a 5 pc set.

This set contains smaller sizes. Don't even think about "powering" them out, though! Pound the bolt-out onto the stud, and use a very small wrench on the shaft to turn it out. I have used them many a time, and they work great.

It's Sears item #00952168000.

Might work but getting wrench in there is REALLY difficult.

Default You could also put a small deep well socket onto the shaft of these, with a socket wrench and..

...extension, if need be. Don't give up!

Default Didn't you break an ez-out off in the stud?...

I doubt your going to get far without getting that out. I'd try grinding a slot in the end of the ez-out with a dremel cutoff wheel, and seeing if you can get it out by turning it with a flat bladed screwdriver. I assume you used a twist-type ez-out, so remember that you turn clockwise to remove it.

If you can't get the ez-out out, find a good machine shop with a wire EDM, they can burn it out.

Default I really need the external type of stud extractor. Plus, yes, I did break the ez-out type in there.

The external one should work-theoretically-if I can get enough pressure on it. There's about 3/4 of an inch of stud still sticking out.

Wow, you're full of good ideas. This might be like a MacGuyver meets the A-team type trick.
