Default Cut-Off at RPM 4

i just bought a TT 2000 (Used) but great condition, however i have one issue, while driving at mostly any gear (Cut-off occurs at RPM 4) any idea what causes that and how it can be solved???

VAG says its 7 rpm and not 4. but I feel car is slow.. Cutt off is early


Any help Is Highly Appreciated

The tach is in thousands..........as in "4"thousand or "7"thousand RPM

Default So it had this problem when you bought it? Did you have the car checked by a mechanic

prior to purchase?

4000 rpm is right where the turbo should be kicking in, and you should be "feeling the rush" of the extra power. I could well be wrong (it happens alot!), but this doesn't sound good to me... Turbo problems can be $$$$$.

Default My guess

You have an APR chip and it is currently in "Valet" mode, which does not let the RPMs go over 4000.

Try this, with the car on but not moving: turn on the cruise control and hold down the "set" button for at least 5 seconds. If the Check Engine light flashes, you have an APR chip.

Default The 2000 has a K03 turbo and the power band starts to fade around 4000...>>

Unless it's has been chipped with APR, I suspect a bad MAF or vac leak. Anyways, the ECU thinks it's is too rich and is leaning the mixture out.

Default Could be alot of things.Does the car have the original DV(Divertor valve)?

That's where I would start. Mine improved when I changed to the hyperboost DV.It was my first MOD. Do a search. It's been discussed to death.
