2 Quirky issues - Starting & Windows
Issue 1 - Intermittent
Trying to start the car (after it has sat overnight) it goes through excessive cranking. One of two things happens next:
1) It doesn't start at all. I turn the key back, and try a 2nd time and it fires right up.
OR
2) It starts but sputters and dies after a few seconds. I turn the key a second time and it fires right up
Issue #2 - Intermittent
I unlock the car, open the door and the window drops opens slightly as it's supposed to. I shut the door and the window closes as it should. Immediately after it closes, it opens again (about an inch) and stays open until I manually close it. This happens on both the driver and passenger side.
Any help you guys can give is, as always, much appreciated.
Sorry,
BlueChip
2) Your window is an independent thinker. If it were a dog, it would be a Borzoi. It would know what to do, but would only do it when it felt like it.
Another quirk many have had is the "lock- light bug" where the interior light fails to go out. I had that occasionally but strangely it stopped happening when I replaced my battery.
Somehow this stuff becomes tolerable when we read that others have the same occurances and no one can explain why. Kind of like visiting a haunted house. ;-)

The cure? Oddly, driving the car VERY hard (but safely) for a short stretch of time gets rid of the issue for many months. Specifically, driving it in such a way that ABS is forced to kick in. Seriously. I'm guessing that doing this causes some sort of overarching software reset. But who knows? The fact that such a critical safety system appears to be connected to such an utterly trivial "feature" seems dubious at best. But the tactic nevertheless works 100% of the time. Go figure...
