Default Saw APR Stage III kit on a TT Engine Today......

I stopped at GRD Performance in Naperville, IL to put the TT on a rack to check for an oil leak. Found the oil leak.

But, the interesting thing was there was a TT engine on an engine stand. Had the new APR intake manifold (black) and new larger Turbo mounted. I commented that the block looked new and the tech said it was. They had installed high performance cams, pistons, and new head as part of this installation. Said they were hoping to tune it to get 500 hp out of it.

I wanted to know who's TT it was and tech only said it goes in the blue one outside. I went and took a look and it was a slightly modded and very dirty blue TT. I have not seen this TT at any of the GTG's or whatever around Chicago, but someone is getting a monster of an engine.

Tech was guessing that total bill was going to be in the $12-15K range. Ouch.

Was your leak related to your cooler install?

Default $12K was the price of the zero gram balance and rebuild...>>>

on my Porsche 911T CIS before it was shipped to its new owner in Leichtenstein in 1999. That included stainless exhaust system, new pistons and barrels, new oil return tubes, external type 930 oil supply for the chain tensionsers, 935 seals for the camshaft ends, 930 oil pickup system and oil pump and lots of other goodies. It was the best 2.4 rebuild done to that date by the Proshop in San Rafael. The engine sounded sweet when we drove the car to be shipped to Leichtenstein...

Default Yes - I have had 2 small leaks, both involve using 3/8"-1/2" reducers.......

Then instructions for the oil cooler say to obtain 2 ea. 3/8"xAN10 90 degree adapters. Like a dumb idiot following someone walking off a cliff I buy the parts not thinking about how it is all going together. The Mocal sandwich plate has 1/2" npt female ports. The TruCooler has 1/2" npt female ports. If you want to add a oil pressure transducer like mine from 42draftdesigns it has a 1/8" npt male port. So, to fix all this I am replacing all the 3/8" fittings and then just using a 1/2x1/2x1/4 tee with another 1/4x1/8 reducer for the transducer.

I plan to post some learnings.
