Grabbing some 17x8 inch OZ Superleggeras...

Going from my 18x7.5 inch Racing Hart C2's.

What size tire should I go with, I do-NOT understand all this tire stuff. All I've learned is that a 40 series tire is taller than a 45. All that 205 225 bs... yeah, I'm clueless.

I want the widest I can get.

235/40 is SHORTER than 235/45: .....

the /40 or /45 is height of the sidewall as a % of the width.

where are you getting 17x8 SLs?

run 245/40-17 if you want *the* widest tire for the wheel, but you might need a small spacer in the front to clear the strut.

While you were sleeping in math class...

tire sizes:

aaa/bb/cc

a is the width of the tire in mm

b is the ratio of sidewall to width, ie 205/45 means that the sidewall is 45% of the width or 92.25mm

c is the diameter of the wheel in inches (254mm/inch)

Formula for height of a tire and wheel combo:

(c x 254) + [(aaa x .bb) x 2]
