Oil Consumption
My turbo died a couple of weeks ago. I'm still waiting for the replacement. When I removed the intercoolers (I'm replacing them with a FMIC), oil poured out of the right side intercooler... and the left side, but not as much.
In the U.S., I was quoted $2500 parts & labor for turbo replacement. But that didn't include some of the recommended stuff, like new oil feed & return lines. You'll also need alignment because the subframe needs to be dropped or removed. You should should also have all the turbo gaskets replaced along with new seals for oil and coolant lines to the turbo. If you feel inclined to do it yourself, I've been quoted $350-$400 to rebuild a turbo. (Yours sounds like a rebuild candidate.) If it can't be rebuilt, a remanufactured turbo from the dealer is $1200. 3rd party is $850.
As I'm doing mine myself along with a clutch job, I realize it's so much easier to get to the turbo with the trasnmission removed and both jobs require removal of much of the same parts. So, you may also want to consider a clutch replacement if you're doing it yourself or if the shop you'll be using will give you a good discount for doing both.
Good luck.
