Shifter and Gear stuck problem
My TTQ 180 is stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear. When I depress the clutch, the shifter moves into each gear groove but the gears don't change.
I had just put the car into 1st and then either 2nd or 3rd while driving and noticed that the shifter **** became elevated about 1/4 inch from it's original height. I thought this felt unusual so starting depressing the clutch and down shifting, but nothing was biting.
Any ideas? Do you think it is a linkage issue, clutch, or bad transmission?

Re: Check the shifter linkage first. Easy to check, sort of under the airbox.
what should i be looking for. i saw some posts about adjusting the linkage under the hood. How will i know it is a linkage problem under the hood?

if i have to adjust the linkages, do you know how I would get my car in neutral from 2nd before....
I adjust. The bently manual says I would need to start in netural first, but unfortunately part of my problem is the gear in stuck in 2nd.

the linkage looks ok and not loose
when the car is off, i'm able to move the shifter into the different shift positions including reverse. when the shifter is in neutral, i can directly move the linkage by hand somewhat
when the shifter is engaged in one of the shift positions, the linkage appears to be locked and can't be moved by hand.
What do you think?
