Default Noticed one of the CCFL angel eyes not working. Found buldge in transformer.

This was my 2nd go at these CCFL angel eyes. The first time I had them go bad and blow the fuse for the cluster. I found one of the transformers to have a buldge. It was the one on the passenger side. When I removed them I left the CCFL tubes in place in the headlights. Got new transformers and very carefully did the wiring and soldering. They worked fine for several weeks and then I noticed the passenger side was not working again. I found the replacement transformer to have a buldge in it.

Seeing that this has happened 2x and each time it was new wiring, then I figure that there must be a short of some type within the CCFL tubes.

I'm an old pro at getting the front end off and the headlights in and out of the oven so I don't mind doing it, I just wish I knew this was the issue for sure.

Default One of mine went out once, but it came back no problem like the next day

It was really humid out, so I tacked it up to that, but I would hate to see it cause issues.

How are you wiring them? How could the cluster fuse blow?

Default Originally I had them wired just like Bipes angel eyes so they came on with ignition. Next

install was to remove all the Bipes wiring and wire to the parking light wires just as they were numbered in the instructions.

The 2nd time there were no fuses blown. I just happened to pull up to a store with a mirror front and saw only one angel eye working. Went to check and found the transformer buldged.

HN Concepts is sending me a complete new kit.

I think there is some sort of problem with the CCFL tube. I will then send those parts back to HN concepts.

Default it's not a short john, it's poor design of the high-voltage inverter. the 'buldge' is the coil going

hi-resistance, because it's drawing too much current.
the enamel on the wire heats, melts, burns, shorts the coil.
heat causes expansion=buldge.

These inverters are cheap.
you might find something equivalent at surplus places.

Default Strange it would happen on the same side of the car connected to the same CCFL. HN Concepts is

sending me a complete new set. Says new set has a fuse built in. Makes me think this has happened before.

I am thinking there may be a moisture problem too.

your 12volt side wiring is not the problem, it's the inverter.
