seamingly hot coolant issue that started yesterday.
Figure it's either sensor (have my doubts but still hopeful), thermostat or the dreaded cluster.
Not fans as the gauge goes highest on the highway at 3-3.5K. Doubtful it's water pump......not many miles on the one I have.

Default Check for obstructions in the e-bay. I get highest after idling for ....

several minutes in GA traffic (95*/95% RH). I've seen 120*C, but the fan does take it down.

A sticking t-stat would be a bugger-bear. Did you change it when you swapped to a new pump? Did you get the bronze (Euro) pump?

Default wow...120 ted? That is high>>>

i thought my car ran warm. I would regularly run 101-104 when i had the wahler T-stat in. I have subsequently put in the OEM t-stat...and at speed, she runs between 93 and 95 now...the only time i hit 100 is after running it and sitting at a light. It may climb to 101...but that is it...

Default Aah Hans, maybe 116. But this is GA, and I have.....

- the bronze impeller
- all switches and fans work
- quit worrying after 3 years w/o problems.

System isn't solid, just 'in equilibrium', so the thermo is surprsingly mild.

Default that's still pretty high, but I'd suspect the temp sender is providing false readings>>

The auxillary fan switch goes into high speed at 102c, so the fact that temps get 14-18 degrees higher than that is unusual. Either the fan isn't going into high speed, or the temp sender is flaky and providing false readings.

Default Update>>>

Well, as I drove to KMD I monitored the AC readout display. Although guage read well above mid the AC readout was rock solid at 90c.

Unfortunately, upon inspection, Chris at KMD alerted me that non of my fans work....not even the electric water pump. Nothing clicks on! I asked about the need for fans at 75mph on the highway (as this is where the temp was high) and they state that the fans do click on.

Thought now is a faulty module....controls all those things. Glad I didn't just assume the guage was bad since AC readout held at 90c. May very well have warped the head.

So, car resides temporarily at KMD. Time to go out and ride my recumbent bike.

Default Re: Update>>>

You weren't looking on channel 51C for temp readout, per chance? On my 2000 180 FWD (ATC) 51C shows steady 90 no matter what, which is obviously not right for a real time temperature reading. Channel 49C is the one - starts low when engine cold, display crawls to 97-98, you hear fan click in on low speed, readout start going down, you hear fan click off. Under normal driving conditions 49C fluctuates between 86-92 right where engine temp should be.
Again, imho, it is just can't be right when real time temeperature reading is a 'rock solid' anything. Try 49C next time.

Default thanks...and, yes, you are correct...read 51. Fortunately, >>>

I had the car looked at despite the steady 90C I was reading.
Man.......warped head...hmmmm, wonder what that would cost?

Default funny, code sheet I read shows that 49 reads >>>>

"Malfunction counter for speedometer (vehicle speed) signal".
