Geez, I'd rather spend 30min. struggling with a noob on the vortex forum, than....

change the oil on this car.

All I can say is this is where most BMWs and M-Bs shine in comparison...

Top mounted canister filters = easy oil changes.

I havn't been under the GTI yet but I can only hope the canister filter is easy to reach.

and I'll agree w/ jackTTar... the oil changes on my e46 are a piece of cake.

BTW just got down with my first round of amp tuning, its sounding not too bad but I think I'll be adding a sub.

I took pics today when I did my oil. Apparently I'm a little different.... no struggling...

Can't post them tonight, and don't even know if they're good, but basically, I take the plastic engine cover off, the small L shaped one under/infront, and the 2 pieces that wrap around the front edge of the engine bay.
Head under the car, unscrew the filter (after draining the oil), and sorta just rest it ontop of that SMIC crossover pipe that only you 225 guys get to actually use.
Head topside again, and reach down, and ease it right out. Only thing you'll have to move is that cold start tube going to the airbox, and you gotta push it about 1" to the side.

Beats sloshing oil everywhere trying to fight past all the hoses under the car. You do still get that couple ounces from unscrewing the filter, I wish there was a way past that. About 10' of papertowel makes a nice dam so it doesn't run all over the oil pan. : )
