Default A MAP sensor wouldn't need to be in the air flow would it?

Thinking of cutting the mounting block off my stock piece and epoxying it the Del Rio piece but it would sit outside the air passage more. I'm thinking since it measures pressure that shouldn't really matter, correct?

Default I depends on how pressure is derived. You can derive pressue from airflow, in a known diameter

and in that case it would be important. I would suspect if the airflow was not important, the OEM position would not put it there, obstructing flow to the throttle body... I'm not sure I would trust epoxy to hold up to your new pressure levels, either.

Any way the 42DraftDesigns part could help you out? It appears your Del Rio was bored out for the larger VW MAP instead of the Audi/TT diamter.<ul><li><a href="http://www.42draftdesigns.com/18tmapsensors.htm">http://www.42draftdesigns.com/18tmapsensors.htm</a</li></ul>

Default Better plan..>>

Get this and weld on (or grind it down and mount on the existing hole with a gasket). I wouldn't epoxy anything on the pressure side!

Doesn't need to be in the stream..<ul><li><a href="http://www.42draftdesigns.com/18tmapsensors.htm">MAP Bung from 42 draft design</a></li></ul>

Default Thanks guys, that'll probably be best.

Didn't like the epoxy idea but was best I could think of. Also thought of good old JB Weld but the stock piece is plastic. I'll see if Torque Factory can't get me a new pipe this week, otherwise I'll order the 42 DraftDesigns piece.

Default Another option might be to just use the other MAP sensor... I don't know if they have the same

specs or not, but it should be a direct bolt on fit. Don't know how to compare the outputs from the two different sizes. I guess the must be different, though, or why would them make two... Maybe it wouldn't work, but at least something to consider.

Default from the bosch automotive sensor catalog...

judging by the "looks" of your sensor, here's the appropriate section of text:

<b>Applications</b><i>
This sensor is used to measure the
absolute intake-manifold pressure. On the
version with integral temperature sensor,
the temperature of the drawn-in air flow is
also measured.
</i>
<b>Design and function</b><i>
The piezoresistive pressure-sensor element
and suitable electronic circuitry for signalamplification
and temperature compensation
are mounted on a silicon chip. The
measured pressure is applied from above
to the diaphragm's active surface. A
reference vacuum is enclosed between the
rear side and the glass base. Thanks to a
special coating, both pressure sensor and
temperature sensor are insensitive to the
gases and liquids which are present in the
intake manifold.
</i>
<b>Installation information</b><i>
The sensor is designed for mounting on a
horizontal surface of the vehicle's intake
manifold. The pressure fitting together with
the temperature sensor extend into the
manifold and are sealed-off to atmosphere
by O-rings. By correct mounting in the
vehicle (pressure-monitoring point on the
top at the intake manifold, pressure fitting
pointing downwards etc.) it is to be ensured
that condensate does not collect in
the pressure cell.</i>

so to answer your question, i dont think it matters in your case.<ul><li><a href="http://www.modifieda4.com/web/archive/sensoren.pdf">see page 34...right click save-as please.</a></li></ul>
