Curious as to what sorta work I'm looking at...

also wondering about the part numbers I'd need too. The stealership quoted me $180 - $100 of which were the parts.

Default PN: 8N8 827 552 B - You'll need two ($34.98 a piece)

Just double check the PN with your dealer... I assumed you had a spoiler on it.

WorldImpex

Default Yes, all I needed were the pistons and someone to help as someone has to hold the hatch fully open

while you install the pistons

Default Your comment made me laugh - I was thinking back some years

when I was trying to change them on my Rabbit. I took one side off thinking the other strut would hold the weight...wrong, got a good whack in the head & learned to ask for help :-)

Default Well, my pistons have been going bad for about a month and a half

everyone I know is very well experienced in the art of holding the hatch fully open so as to avoid getting smacked on the head.
