Default Saving up for another car?

About 20 minutes ago, on my way to work, I passed a spy car in testing-- the 2008 E92 M3, blacked out, quad tail pipes and all. That left me thinking (since I'm planning to buy a used, well-depreciated E46 M3 for a 2nd car, a little bit after the E92 makes its introduction), if any of you are currently saving up for another vehicle as our TTs get a little bit older and little more weary.. and what that vehicle might be.

Lotus Elise...they can't give them away in Cleveland....gonna make for a nice price next summer

Default Mmmmm.... I've always liked those.

I used to work with a guy who had a white 2-door one. He was drunk (as usual), driving too fast (as usual), took a corner too wide, hit a boulder in someone's yard, took out a young tree, totaled the car, and walked away with only a gash on his forhead. He didn't drive again for about a year after that.

Default thinking about a Z4 M3 Coupe in 2008...

but if I could get my hands on a used narrow angle VAG 3.6l V6 (out of a late model wreck, for a reasonable price) I'd put it in my Mark I TT, retaining the manual trans instead...

Default yep, that's what I meant

swap possible? I think so... the 3.6 is narrower than the current 3.2, and VAG uses common mounting points for their engines. I'm betting it's a "bolt in". HPA puts 3.2 V6's in current 1.8 cars now, so programming (likely with an ECU swap to a V6 type, and cloning to accomodate the imobilizer) is do-able...
Exhaust will require fabrication, and electrical interfacing to the engine will require engineering... but all has been done before.

Default What a waste! Those cars, especially the two-door are relatively rare.

There are three for sale in my area but all autos. I'm hoping for a blue one with manual transmission.
