Default Follow up 1, of flat spot when cold. Turned BM off and set Revo to stock>>

using SPS3 before I left work today. inital anecdotal evaluation: Same ambient temperature as this morning at about 2deg C. The flat spot is gone. Initial acceleration at suburban speeds does not raise boost much above 0, so losing boost is no longer an issue. Now to start dialing the Revo software with SPS3 and then BM. Oh and check the DV of course. Let the experiments begin (again). Any comments or suggestions? I have the newer SPS 3 with Mode and Range settings. TIA, Dirk

Default Initial settings after a search, I have started with>>

Boost at 4, Timing at 3 (conservative as at best I can only get 92 Fuel),finally, in case it works, set fuel map on 4.
Initial results are boost (gauge) peak/hold 19/17 psi. pull away smooth, but engine was not cold. Too lazy to hook up Vagcom and log many runs at this stage. must now wait until engine is cold to do next test.Maybe take this laptop along and log some data then. Later

So, the problem goes away when the engine is warmed up... Is there really a problem then?

Default Not quite, why should there be a hesitation or flat spot when the engine is cold>>

in the first place especially when the problem go away when the software is set to stock?

Default Maybe because the engine is cold? It is not good to push a cold engine. Maybe they pull timing as

the revs increase to go easier on it until it warms up? You shouldn't be pushing it at all until your temp needle is vertical.

Default many of the sensors will not function properly when cold

namely the 02 and others. the car needs heat to run properly, period.

Default I've done tons of detailed tuning with REVO and BM and the best combo I have found is...

low boost 7 (about where you are at with boost 4) and Timing 3 with 93 octane. At that setting alone (BM off) I'd be at about 18psi. Do what it takes to dial the BM up to give you 22psi and lock it down. For me, that is about 5 1/2 turns. Then dial up the relief valve to smooth the boost response. Rock solid performance for years now. Not a single issue other than the occasional face cramp from big smiles. ;-)

Default Hmm, Agreed and I don't push it when cold. Either timing or boost is cut, but why>>

does it rise so high on a cold engine. and why would it be worse than a year ago and why is it at its worst on a cold engine in cold weather and why does the problem go away with the settings in stock? perhaps the Revo settings and BM combo I had were too agressive, although I never hit limp under hard operating conditions

Thanks, I saw your data on an earlier thread after a brief search and used it as a starting point.

Default My car does the same thing. It dies alot when I first start it too. If you figure it out, I'm very

interested. I've replaced the coolant sensor, changed the boost gauge hose and coupling, and ran about 4 bottles of techron through it.

The only difference is I don't have a BM.
