Default another oil change question...

hey guys, i'm going to be changing my oil soon and have been searching the posts and see that it seems like a pain to do. my B5 A4 quattro was a piece of cake, but what about the TT?mine's a non-quattro 2000 coupe and was wondering what you guys would caution or any words of advice. i've only had the TT for a month now and its about to reack 40K miles. Will be using Mobil 1 0W-40 and purchased a Mahle(Mann) OEM filter. How much oil? 4.5 quarts? Also
will be changing spark plugs. am i missing anything? thanks in advanced guys.

Default yep on the 0w40, the Mann oil filter, and I think 4.5 qts sounds about right.

Buy a six-pack of the Mobil1 0w40 and keep the extra 1.5 qts for topping up over the next 10k miles. Most of my engines use Mobil1 quicker than other synthetics (like Valvoline or Castrol) but a Mercedes-Benz engineering study a few years back on extended oil drain intervals seemed to indicate that topping up was actually helpful as it replenished the additive packages, making oil drain intervals as long as 15-20k miles Ok. YMMV.

Tip#2: slip a zip-lock bag around the spent oil filter as soon as you get it unscrewed. It makes it a bit cleaner to fish it out. Some people punch a hole in the bottom of the old one to drain it once it's loosened.

Tip#3: loosen the clamps holding some of the flexible lines that attach to that horizontal tube; it'll make it easier to move that tubing aside when fishing the old oil filter out.

Good luck and just have patience... it's not as difficult as changing the air filter on an '01 Passat!

Default Spread out newspapers or cardboard and keep a roll of paper towel handy... It's a messy job.

Oil capacity is 4.8 quarts.

Default I've used Mobil 1 since I started doing my own oil changes and have never added any between changes.

Oil level has never dropped. I use 5w30 weight.

Default another plug change answer...

Follow this link to 'coli pak' change.

You need to remove these anyway to get at the plugs.

Plug/Coil Pak change

Yea, that's very similar to my SR motor but this just seems a little bit more of a pain in the *** to get the coilpacks out to access the plugs.
