VVT For Emissions Only...???
I've seen it stated a number of times. However, the APR graphs for the stage III+ vvt kit has a LOT more area under the torque curve above 350 lb.-ft. between 4,100 - 6,000 RPM compared to the graph for the non vvt version. Other engine factors or ? Is there a good write up on how the vvt is implemented on this engine? Unless it could actively advance & retard valve timing versus RPM I wouldn't think it could have this kind of effect.

Yes, if APR can retard cam timing from the firmware in the engine ECU or if Audi does it mechanically, you could do a better job of filling cylinders with air/fuel at 6,000 RPM. Does a BEA vvt engine have that capability? That would be really nice if it can, but I've never seen it mentioned.
