Solution to my "exhaust smell in the Cabin," problem....Someone is going to get verbally sodomized!!
My wife took the TT to the dealership to get the oil changed last week Tue.
Wed. while stopped at a stop light on my way to work there was an exhaust smell in the cabin. It was not there before we took it to the dealership.
I called the dealership this week Tue. and explained that something was different after they did the oil change and the service manager said to bring it in and they'll look at it. It's scheduled to go in tomorrow (Friday,) at 9am.
I figured the joint after the Cat's had loosed up, or I broke a stud on the down pipe. Since I had nothing better to do this thanksgiving morning I jacked up the car just to make sure everything was sung, after all I did have have the exhaust off to put the short shift in a couple months ago. Yep....all bolts and studs I can access were tight and present.
Popped the hood to get a look behind the engine at the Turbo and I discovered my problem!!!!

This is UNACCEPTABLE from an Audi Dealership.
Someone is going to get an ear full tomorrow. I'm just glad I found it today when they are closed so I've got a day to simmer down..lol. I do fully expect a complete oil system flush, new oil, engine detail, and a couple free oil changes. If not, I'm done with the dealership and will take my cars to one of the two import mechanics in town from now on.
At least it's not a turbo to downpipe issue...that would have been $$$.
If the service manager is smart he/she will just apologize, refund your cost and provide the next 4 oil changes at no cost. They should definately provide a full engine detail to clean up at no cost to you and maybe throw in some Audi chatckies - tshirt, cap etc.
Would love to hear what the dealer actually says and does for you. You have the photo evidence and IMO you should report this to the regional Audi rep to make sure that they are aware of poor service.
Its all about customer service and this is clearly very poor customer service.
Take Care,

PS: I have a 2002 ALMS TT Avus Silver
This advice, by the way, is more for all the sodomizers out there, and not so much for you, ALMS. You sound like a reasonable person who's pissed about this, as I would be.
Asking for caps and t-shirts might seem a little greedy and off-topic, though. Can't say I like that suggestion. What you want out of this is a sincere apology, a guarantee that it won't happen again, for all of the mess to be cleaned up, your money back on this one, and an offer to come back in at least once (more than once would be generous) on the house.
Let them save face, and hopefully they'll try to save you as a customer. You have your backup, sounds like, so you're going in well-armed. Keep the guns in the holster and give them a chance.
And yes, it's a bonehead bit of negligence. And it makes you wonder if they also tighten bolts properly. They know that. See what they have to say. Then, if you don't like the answer, say you'll take your money back now, please.
