180 vs 225 motor identification

Default 180 vs 225 motor identification
Sorry if this subject has been beat to death, but as a prospective buyer, in 2002+ cars, how can you identify if the engine is a 180 or a 225 version? Vin? Visual?

Default look at the head there is a code stamped into each one. its the motor code!
i dont have any pic's of it but im sure someone on here does. thats the easyst way to tell!

Default Well, a 225 looks like this...

Normally you can tell by the single exhaust tip (180) versus the dual exhaust tip (225)

And on 2002+, 225 is quattro, 180 is not. 225 is 6 speed, 180 is 5 speed.
