VF Engine Mount Long Term Update - 2.5 months post install
The feel has softened up some since right after install (softened within 1-2 weeks), but it was a little too direct at first. Now I do get slight steering wheel vibration at idle, and my rear view vibrates at speed, but I don't feel either of those in my butt or elsewhere physically, I only notice it visually.
I used to mis-shift/grind 2nd - 3rd three to four times a month (I have a 49% reduced throw short shifter, which exacerbates the problem). I ground gears once since the install, and that was at the track.
I think people that don't like the kit feel that way due to one or a combination of the following reasons:
1. Didn't install all three mounts - it's a system, and I think they all need to be done together or you just send and multiplying the vibration at the one that wasn't done.
2. Didn't torque correctly. Follow directions!
3. Coupe different from roadster? Maybe the natural body flex in my roadster soaks up some vibration that is not tolerable in the coupe?
4. I am numb, and can't tell my car vibrates like crazy - who knows, anything's possible! ; )<ul><li><a href="http://public.fotki.com/mcphill/audi_stuff/engine_and_drivetrain/vf-engineering-engi/">VF Engine Mount Install Fotki</a></li></ul>
