Default Resurface rotors or buy OEM sized performance rotors?

My front OEM rotors are a little heat warped from a recent track weekend. Should I just take them in to be resurfaced or would it not be that much more expensive to just buy some OEM sized performance replacements like Brembos and have them swapped. I don't have enough tools to do the rotor swap so I'll take it to the shop either way.

So is it a small step pricewise to get new rotors while I am at it or is the resurfacing pretty cheap and it would be a big jump to get the new rotors.

Thanks

Default Resurfacing is much cheaper (I had mine done for $4 per rotor), BUT, if yours

are warped, resurfacing may not fix it. Also, the rotors have a min thickness that must be observed. Again, warped rotors will probably need so much material taken off that the won't meet that thickness.

Default they are only slightly warped so resurfacing is probably the way to go, but...

I was looking for an excuse to upgrade and mod.

Default Swap. Resurfacing will remove more mass. Less mass means more heat transfer required-

More DE/track days means more heat input, and more warping.

Get replacements. Have fun.

Default buy new rotors...

IMHO, anytime the rotor is "warped," cutting the rotors is a short term solution and you will wind up doing the rotors again in relatively short order. rotors are so cheap these days that there seems to be little justification for not replacing them when you do pads. as InTTruder pointed out, you are reducing mass and heat transfer, eating the labor charge [assuming that you don't do it yourself], and running into the possibility that the pads will squeel anyway...btw, read the attached link about whether or not the rotors are actually "warped"...

http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml</a

If you go bigger, do you have to upgrade the calipers too?

Default New rotors....if you are tracking it, resurfacing will only make the problem >>>

go away for a bit. More than likely it will be back on your next outing as the rotor will not cool itself as efficiently with less material.

Resurfacing would be a waist of $$$ IMO....

Build it right, and it will be safer and more enjoyable....

Just my nickels worth...;-)

measure the thickness first, should be more than 22mm.

Default If your tracking ....

I started with a second set of factory rotors, they didn't last long, then I tried some Zimmermans, one of them failed and seperated on the track. Then I went with Brembo Slotted Cadium plated, they were good, and are still in the garage along with the brass inserts for the calipers, along with the stainless brake lines, RBF600, dedicated track pads.

Of note, with all those upgrades to the factory system I still kept having brake failures. The factory system just can't take the strain. I now have Stoptechs.
