Default Rear Springs from Bilstein Are Wrong.....WTF....

Had my car in the shop for various pieces of warranty work and an alignment since doing the Defcons.

Got a call from the shop today to tell me my rear springs do not fit my spring perches. WHOA!

Bilstein sold these to me when I complained over and over about the collapsed PSS9 springs. Due to lots of travel I had a local tuner shop install them a couple years ago. Current shop called and said springs are the wrong ones and do not fit the perches.

Having had my rear wheels off, done pads, bled brakes many times I have never noticed anything odd about the rear springs. Car even handled significantly better with the new stiffer springs.

Current shop is calling Bilstein to understand why they sold me the wrong springs. This is just one more reason my car is not going back to a certain shop that has screwed up SparTTan's car also.

Default i'm confused

you're not happy with the current shop or your previous shop that installed the springs? your statement that you've "never noticed anything odd" makes it seem like the current shop is wrong about the springs...

Default Sorry, the old shop that has done work, is close to the house, helped in a pinch...

has just gotten worse and worse with things. The shop I am now taking it to is very particular, very clean, does mostly work on high end cars. The other, older shop now does mostly work on subaru's.

Default I'll help with what i can. Here is a picture of brand new original "supposed" bad springs

as you can see they are collapsed. this is totally fine and does not get any worse than this picture of my stuff when it was BRAND new. my point? if there is a problem with the current spring, put the original back in. they did let me test some H&R rear springs to see what I thought of them. this was a slightly stiffer spring and was a full linear spring. give me the part number on your spring and i'll check it against mine. if it's the same, they fit fine.

Default here is how tight the test spring sits on the perch

it is red, has about 5 coils and they are all parallel to each other (linear design). i'm not at my car, but mine said 1-248-something-something. give me your part # and i'll go out to my car at lunch. these are directly from the H&R coilover TT kit. hope this helps.

Default Hard to tell from your picture and my car is at the shop.......

Tech at the shop says the bottom spring perch is 70mm in diameter and the spring inner coil diameter is 60mm.

I had the same issue as you with my PSS9 spring collapse and Bilstein sold me the H&R springs that were stiffer. I gave them to a tuner shop to install while out of town.

My car handled 100% better after doing and would rotate very well.

Had the car in a different and much better shop and they were doing an alignment and corner balance when they found this problem.

I have called Bistein 5 times today but the person I have dealt with in the past is was not there today.

I dread the bill I am going to get for the amount of time the shop as put in dealing with multiple problems outside of their control or responsibility.
