Default Is it possible to run a relatively thick (1/8") cable through this vent?

And where does it pop out under the dash?

The one circled in red:

I'm getting ready to do a Garmin Nuvi hardwire install, but I want to mount it next to the A pillar rather than above the center console as Stilljester and others have done.

P.S. Thanks to Jeff for this image and his awesome website for a very simple hardwire solutions.

Default Sure. Pop the vent in front, and you can get at the top vent. You may need to drill a hole in the...

front vent tube to get the wire out on top of the fuse box, but it can be done.
I had my boost gauge tubing and wiring running through that vent hole.

Default im doing a nuvi install in a bit, search the tex for garmin nuvi 550 or somethign

they did a write up

they also mounted it in the ash tray, it could even close!

they ran the aux antenna up to the center vent, completly seamless install.

so seamless here's the link<ul><li><a href="http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3003822">Garmin Nuvi seamless installation </a></li></ul>

Default Great, Thanks. Also do you know the name of the 13 pin connector from the HU to the CD Changer?

I'm thinking about making switch to change inputs from the CD changer to my Blitzsafe iPod adapter. I figure they can be ordered from Digikey... You purchased them in the past for the Bipes adapter project, right?

Your website really is a wealth of information and has inspired me to clean up some wires in my TT.

Default

That's a clean looking install, but the viewing position seems... suboptimal.

Default i've been told. but i'd rather it there actually. for more than one reason

1) i can close it and say goodbye

2) if it was near my face i would spend all my time looking at it and not the road

Default I fed a mini USB cable and 12 power supply through the corner shown here

<center><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v34/Audi4t/Audi%20TTR/GPS/Garminspi5.jpg"></center><p>The dash at this location is soft and flexible.

You can push it away from the A pillar and get cables from the lower dash / fuse carrier to the left hand corner.

I was able to get both a mini usb connector and a 12 volt passport connector from the fuse box to the devices this way
