MIL/CEL/Engine light came on

I was driving my car this morning and it was fine. I got back in the car this afternoon and the car started up fine. I drove around the corner and the car seemed like it wanted to cut off, kinda of puttering, then I heard a hissing noise that seemed like it was coming from the front manifold, but it quickly went away. So I drove to where I had to go. I came to a stop light and then the car seemed like it wanted to stall or cut off and started puttering again, then it was fine. I parked, went inside and left the car running, came back out and the engine light was on. The car is now riding fine but the engine light stays on. The day before I was driving and it was very cold and has been cold for several days except for today. Yesterday when I was driving the car the gas light came on so I stopped and let my cousin pump the gas but I'm wondering if he put the gas cap on correctly as I know that this can cause the engine light to come on. If this is the case how long does it take for the engine light to go off? I have just filled the tank up and the engine light is still on. Any thoughts on what the problem could be? I have a 2002 quattro turbo wiht 62,300 miles. I've had the card a little over a year and have only put four thousand miles on the car in 13 months.

Step 1: Find someone with a VAG-COM (or better yet, get your own). Step 2: Read the codes

and if you have to, post them here.

Then maybe we can help rather than purely guess.

during the winter...all sorts of oddities happen. could be moisture in the gas...could

be a mis-firing coilpack...hose leak...MAF.

just today, my driver's side window dropped an inch. did a window reset and its fine now. also, odd noises under the hood. outside temps in the low 20's.
