Default MAF screws? Any tips on removing them?

I know, I know...dynamite.

Those tamper-proof screws are a PITA! Last time I used pliers to loosen them. This time...it doesn't work. How do I remove them? Is there a tool that I could get?

I bought the adapter at autozone for a couple dollars. Don't know the size but they let me go out to the parking lot to check.

Default ACE hardware sometimes has a screwdriver kit with the proper bits. If not>>

Hit EBAY or search google for security torx bits. I think i've seen them at harbor freight too. I've got a set but I'm assuming your not close to central Ohio.

Default Thanks for the offer...little far to drive though :)

Although, I may be in Cleveland soon. I'll see what I find through ACE first.

Default Next time...>

Replace those suckers with regular #8 Phillips head screws!(or better yet, buy a ****!) Your car should be ealrly enough that a regular security Torx bit should work. Newer ones use a more secure Torx for which Bits are not available....

Default That would be perfect. I'll give that a shot.

The MAF isn't in the car yet, so I'll just bring it in. Thanks!

Default "Next time" already happened...

I have the setup from you. I have a new MAF that I need to remove from the housing itself. Damn those security torx bits! It's a 5-star bit with the hole in the middle. I have 6-star bits with the hole...no good.

Default Vise grips usually do it for me. Never put those screws back in. The Dremel slot idea

is a good one too.
