Turn signals won't fire. . .question...

2001 TTQuatro Coup.. Turn signals - both sides - initiate and then stop. They won't stay 'fired.' `Sound like thermal flasher needs replacing? I looked up the fuse array in the manual, but there's no mention of the thermal flasher.

I'm not very 'hands-on' but hate to do the repair trip thing. Is this something I should try to replace? And. .um. . .where is it?

Just use a flare gun. Shoot one out the right window when going right. Out the left when going left.

Problem solved.

i just replaced mine because sometimes they would just stay "on" and not blink.

Thanks for the advice. . another dandy little fairly common wrinkle. Doesn't sound like anything *I* can handle, though. Off to the repair shop again. . . sigh. . . at least I know to call it a 'blinker relay.'

Since once initiated the hazards function properly, it's probably the switch on the steering column?

Guess this means a repair appointment. Argh.

Got in touch with my service guys. No sooner than I said the words 'turn signals. .' than he said 'know exactly what it is. Two hours and $300!" It's an inexpensive blinker relay, but it's behind the radio - labor costs, etc.

I've had enough go wrong over six years to *almost* regret the purchase.

might take 15-30 mins tops if it's the first time you do it--a link from earlier today says 5 mins (see link below).

Pulling the radio requires a special tool (but you can make them from pendaflex folders for free). Search on hazard relay. I think Jeff has a DIY with pictures. If not him, then others do.
