Out of town inspections and indy's...

I'm in the Kansas City area keeping an eye out for a 01/02 Roadster with around 50K miles. So far nothing exactly what I want. If I expand my search out to Dallas and Chicago I find many more hits. But, buying a car unseen or undriven is not the smartest thing to do. Has anyone ever used an inspection service to check out an out of town car? If so, how did it turn out?

Considering the year and mileage of the vehicle, I would hesistate to take it for a 3-400 mile road trip back home without getting the timing belt changed first. So, then I'd need to find a local (for the car) indy to change the belt and maybe the water pump. Are there enough forum readers from the Chicago and Dallas areas to give recommendations later if I need them?

Yea, I know a great shop in the dallas area for anything audi/vw.....

MS Performace Owners name is Carson, he also does all the work. Great guy, member of the North Texas Audi Group, He knows audi's inside and outside. Best Prices in town too, But only the Audi enthusiasts around here know about him.
