So say I was looking at new wheels
I just recently got the eibach/bilstein put on the car prior to the above pic and I've been getting some 45-60 vibration I didn't have before. I'm nearing the point where new tires are a necessity, so I'm not sure if the vibration is due to that or a slightly bent rim that my old crappy suspension had been covering up. Unfortunately, my trip to Detroit over the weekend left me incredibly frustrated feeling as though I've bent yet another one of these rims, which wouldn't surprise me.
I'm really considering downsizing to a 17" in hopes that I might have a little bit more protection when I go back east to the horrible roads that are in Detroit where it's sometimes impossible to avoid the holes.
With the need for new tires, I'm perplexed with the question of whether or not to just have these wheels repaired and get tires for them, if I should downsize now, or maybe just find a different wheel. Of course, the decision would be much easier if I knew whether or not I'd be able to offload a set of 18x8 RSS's originally purchased from Edge Racing but are not available in the US anymore AFAIK. There's no doubt that they could be repaired locally prior to delivery.

Kahn RSS

When I changed to 18" rims, I had trouble with bent rims and potholes. After trial and error and rim replacements, I figured out that 235/40x18 XL tire running 40psi front and 37 psi rear seems to work. Of course, I still also dodge the potholes as much as possible.
Also, my independent tire store proprietor tells me that 17" rims and even smaller sizes than 17" get bent too. So, no matter what you use, there will be some vulnerablity.
