2001 TT 1.8T coupe Quattro AC problems
my compressor died. took the car to the dealer - quote $2k. Was told it would take a few days for parts and I said OK. Slept on it and said wtf! $2k is high. Called back to cancel and was told too late, the parts are ordered and will only fit a 2001 TT 1.8T and no other engine/car. Dealer said they already paid for parts but had not yet received them. I said no way I'm paying, give me my car. The dealer lowered the price to $1400 and said I have to do it. No way! Got the car back for a $100 "diagnostic fee." I'm appalled at the dealer and the lying. Spoke w/ an Audi NA customer "advocate" and they said the compressor only fits a 2001 1.8T quattro TT. Is this true? I can't believe it!

i highly doubt it's true
doesn't mean it's not possible. 2k is way high regardless.
i had the same thing happen to mine, but under warranty, so unfortunately i can't say how much it should cost.
time to find a good indy mechanic. you might check the regional forums...
