please help -- car won't start >>
it will crank forever. it's just not catching.
i smell gas, so i think i'm getting fuel. the juice is good too.
it was cold and rainy today in boston.... the car has been having hard starts for a couple weeks now. sometimes it will choke and die, and start right up on the second try. but, this is the first time it won't start at all.
any advice would be appreciated - how do i go about trouble shooting?

just did that. still no-go. i really don't want to have to get it flat-bedded.
the plugs were pretty fouled - probably from all the starts. i'm also running pretty rich cause they were very black.
do i try brand new plugs?

Well..there are two fuel filters on the TT>>>
most only replace the one near the tank....i would start with those as it is always possible one is clogged....from there the next step would be to insure the fuel pump is giving you max pressure...On that...the only way i know that i am getting this is that i have a gauge on the pressure side of the fuel rail (for my adjustable FPR)...
One symptom with the first adjustable i had is that the motor would just spin or start, run rough...then stall. Turns out the FPR was bad...but that is rare...
Last question....is it spinning really freely? Like timing belt broke freely? Trying to get an idea...

i had replaced the fuel filter a few months ago >>
just had the timing belt done. i don't think it's spinning freely. sometimes it sounds like it's trying to start, but it "chokes" out.

fuel pump is my guess...happened to me awhile back.
it would crank and crank...but not catch like you said. i have a fuel guage in mine now, so i can tell if there's pressure in the line. should be easier for me to tell next time.
