I never paid attn in the past, when I checked my plugs - but do you guys have this part?
It is a seal above between the coilpack and the block. All four of my coilpacks were missing them. The last time the plugs were checked/changed I took the car in for a routine maint check.
I plan on buying the part, as i had some grime around the thread of the plugs....now, i am wondering, how bad this could possibly be. I believe that I got about 10k miles on these plugs before they went to ****. the colour of the plugs are good, and it appears that i got OEM, bosch plugs instead in (I dont know how to measure the gap of the 3prong bosch plugs).
I am being a little skittish, because the engine has 155k on board, and *knock on wood* has been completely problem-free.
TT is pretty sensitive to plugs and being gapped correctly.....you may want to get a set of denso's or stock NGK's and gap correctly....
On the gasket.....more then likely there to help keep fluids and crap out of the plug hollow...it is deep and stuff can fall in....
If you pull the coilpak and hit it with the inside of that area with a air hose (not full on) then you can get most of the stuff out..
