Buon giorno a Tutti, and TGIF!!!!!!!.....some flags of our fathers.....
"Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that is observed on the final Monday of May (observed this year on 2007-05-28). It was formerly known as Decoration Day. This holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country. It began first to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War. After World War I, it expanded to include those who died in any war or military action." (https://www.wikipedia.org, 2007)
In light of this and because we have troops in the field across the globe toiling in service to our nation, we must keep them near and dear to our hearts and cherish their unselfish service.
- For those working in all corners of the world, please remember to take a moment and say a prayer for their safety and safe return to this great country. The troops who fight our wars do so because they are ordered to do so. They are soldiers: they bitch, they struggle, they overcome huge challenges, and they cry. But they know that sublime thing called Duty.
- For those who have returned injured in combat or during deployment, remember to say a prayer for their continued recovery and for God's mercy and love in dealing with their injuries. They will forever carry the scars of these injuries. Pray for theier families' comfort. Pray that God blesses those whose sacrifice is unknown to us, and whose pain went unnoticed, or unresolved.
- For those who have fallen in combat or while supporting others in combat, take a moment to remember their honored service and then say a prayer for them and their families. They have paid the ultimate price to ensure that this great nation may endure, and that we may live our lives as we chose.
We must never forget these Heroes and those who stand by them! May God bless and keep each and everyone of them and their families in the palm of His hand. And may He continue to bless the United States of America...
"Duty, Honor, Country":
no matter how you say it, it means more than just words to those who live and die by this simple phrase.
Rest In Peace, absent Friends.
