Default Update on knocking during acceleration and decceleration....>>>>

Changed the dogbone bushings today. The OEM were TOAST or I should I say marshmallows. The sound is still there. Really took a good listen and sounds like the top of the strut on the drivers side. I'm guess strut bushing bearing is failing or has failed.

Opinions?

Default there is no slack on the bolts for the dogbone.>>>

right??? it is still making the sound, then it is very possible it could be a engine mount....if it only does it on acceleration or compression, then more than likely that is it...

strut bushings and bearings do not typically knock....

Default Dogbone bolts are torqued to spec. So whats the deal with the motor mounts?

Just tighten all the bolts?



and its driver's side i'm hearing it.

Default I had to replace my engine and tranny mounts as both were leaking...>>

These mounts have fluid to help isolate vibrations. After a time, the rubber starts to tear and the fliud starts to leak out.

The tranny is about $180 and the engine is around $100. I got the VF Engineering poly mounts and that took care of the problem. However, the only down side is that at idle, the sterring wheel vibrates a little.

Default they should be inspected with 80k on them>>>

and if you have mods..they fail earlier. Basically they can wear the rubber bushing section down and create slack in the mount...that could create the knocking you are hearing...

One other possibility is the CV joint..if it is completely shot...Visual inspection of the boot for tears will tell the story most times...
