Special Edition Sayonara... I just traded the TT! >>>
Here's the deal (and now it can be told): not only did it not let me fall in love with it, but... it vexed me from Day One.
I wanted to love the 3.2 VR-motor, but it was always asking for 3000RPM or more before coming alive. And I missed the responsiveness of my old 180HP FWD. That's right. My 180 was brighter and crisper to push around.
I wanted to dig the snorty exhaust note, but instead I just felt like the obnoxious sports car dude in our quiet little family neighborhood. I missed my stealthy 2002.
I loved the looks. But it never paid off in a great road trip, a comfy drive downtown, or a sense that it was going to go the distance with me.
Oh, and no "I told you so" comments from the gallery, but in the end I felt a little cheated by the Special Edition's deleted seat heaters, non-Bose sound system, and lack of a six-disc changer. What was up with that, Audi?
I imagine the next person to drive my SE will find a car with very low miles, in perfect condition, and it very well may be their dream car of all time. I hope very much for that.
For me, I'm not looking back, except on my screen saver from time to time.
What did I trade it for? You know... I'm not sure I want to incur the abuse on this Forum! Let's just say that it's got a 2.0T and a six-speed, fantastic seats, a stunning paint job, an MP3 jack -- and creates a million smiles in the driving. And all the kids love it!

Oh, and stay tuned... I'll be divesting some of the TT's accessories in a few days or so. I'll post when I'm ready to let 'em go, so save your emails and questions until then.
Thanks for the help from my friends here on the Forum; you know who you are, and it's been a gas! It was always nice to wade through the blathering swamp to find your useful gem-like comments. Good spellers you are, too, and I like that.
I miss saying I have a TT. I kept the key fob with the gas cap design. And I'm very, very glad I stepped up to the SE when I did, and that I gave it a whirl. But it's always good to admit and acknowledge when something's just not flying, and take appropriate steps to change things.
Watch this space... no tuner bits, sorry, but some nice OEM add-ons will show up soon.
Carry on, TT freaks! I still love 'em, but now I don't have one... again. Life a funny thing.
