Default Which is good because I dont understand why the NA v10 only makes 435hp...

especially when the v8 makes 420 in the rs4. Go figure.

Hi Hans!

Default well>>>

not everyone should have the same lambo motor, what fun would that be? ;-P
I would imagine they detuned it to avoid just that...which means with a few intake mods and exhaust, you probably could find some extra ponies there...;-)

Hey Geoff! ;-)

Default I loves me a good biturbo setup.

but it's probably way. I mean way out of my price league.

and it's a larger displacement than the lambo unit, but the S6 and S8 are tuned more for torque

Default There are several reasons...

First, the variant found in the S8 and S6 is 5.2 liters in displacement and the version found in the Gallardo is 5.0 liters. The Audi S-version is tuned to deliver peak torque instead of peak horsepower, as this is more appropriate for a luxury sports sedan than a supercar.

Second, the redline on the Audi version of the V10 is set lower than the Gallardo, I believe that is approximately 7,000. Again, this lowers measured horsepower but is better suited for an automatic transmission. Fluid torque converters usually exhibit cavitation, or the vaporization of the transmission fluid, much beyond 7,000 rpm.

Third, the S8 is rated at 450 bhp whilst the S6 is 435 bhp; however, peak torque is the same for both vehicles. There may be some small differences in packaging that would effect power output, but the difference in horsepower is probably only for marketing purposes.

The S6 may have a horsepower deficit compared with the M5 and E63 but real world testing suggests that the S6 can hold its own against these two cars in every test beyond dry weather straight line acceleration.

The engine is an all new Audi design and shares very little with the Lambo unit
