in the Dieselgeek TB Kit? Most shops that I talked to will only change out the TB, water pump, and serpentine.

Yes or you'll be sorry when the tensioner fails

Default Related: since the tensioner is the weak point, how difficult is it to simply change that?

probably a silly question, but administerturbo's post got me to wondering???

Default no easier than changing everything

plus there's no proof that the tensioner is responsible for all of the failures.

Exactly. Seems to me the water pump impeller is more problematic.

Default I disagree - tensioner was a known weakspot on early 1.8T and failed

regularly causing TB to snap. The belts themselves rarely fail.

water pump is as much to blame as the tensioner. Change it all or beware.

Default Sure it will. It can jam, freezing up the water pump and that will break the belt.

Which is what I mostly heard of happening on the TT.
