Dome light does not come on anymore
I can tolerate some electrical issues right now with my TT, but what irritates me the most is that my dome light does not work.
Actually once in rare while, the dome light does come on when I open the door, but that is rare. Havent used a circuit tester yet, but im pretty sure there is power there. I already changed the bulb and still no luck. At one point i can actually press hard on the housing and the light would come on. This does not seem to be the door switch because my windows never fail to go up and down when opening and closing. I have searched but have not found if anyone has a real solution to this.

When the engine is running, open your driver's door. Does the "door open" warning come on?
if not, the microswitch in the door latch is not telling the car that the door is open. OTOH, if the "door open" icon does show, then the problem is in the dome light.
Another test: does the dome light come on when you open the passenger door? If yes, then the driver's door microswitch is probably bad.
My bet is on the microswitch... SEARCH the archives and you will find info about it. Checking the Vortex and a couple of VW sites will also get you how-to's on the replacement. I replaced one on my wife's Passat. Not hard, but it is involved. The part is cheaper from a VW dealer.
