Grill Audi Rings Removal for Black Coating
While the grill was off for other work I thought I would remove the rings, sand and coat them with black plastic. Prying the 8 tabs back with a screwdriver one at a time, I'm unable to pop the rings loose. This works fine with the plastic license cover below the rings, but the rings are metal and too stiff. The other 7 tabs hold it tight. Each tab also has a part of the plastic grill holding it in position. Any more force and I'm afraid the grill or metal tab on the rings will break off.
Short of pry until it either comes off or breaks (I don't want to pay what the stealer charges for that piece of plastic) any secrets, tips or things that did work?
